No pay! Read fine print
Left without a flight home because airline cancelled flight. Other airlines quick to price gouge those on a schedule so end up paying over double. Lucky we had insurance you might think but think again! 1Cover conveniently denies these relatively common events. Seems they only cover one in a million years cancellation events. Poor service and coverage. Go elsewhere.

I can appreciate that you're disappointed with the wording or structure of our policy document and the circumstances in which we are able to offer cancellation cover.
There is a common misunderstanding that cancelled flights are covered by travel insurance. However, this is not the case. This is an industry-wide standard – it’s certainly not an exclusion specific to 1Cover.
Operational and mechanical issues are under the control and responsibility of the airline; they have their own insurance for such matters - it might be worth contacting them directly to make a claim. Like most travel insurers, our cancellation cover is for unforeseen events that are outside of anyone's control, such as illness, natural disasters and bad weather events, hospitalisation etc, allowing you to claim hotel, flight and tour costs for such events.
I hope this clarifies things a little and that you are able to peruse a claim through the airline. I’m sorry to hear that we were unable to help on this occasion.
