Worst experience ever!

We had heard that SUNCORP is the best insurance to have as they had good reports coming out of paying out claims after a disaster (2011 floods). A close friend of mine who is insurance broker said that the only reason they have this good rep is coz they pay out a few claims after a disaster as their is a lot of publicity at the time and promote the hell out of it! We found this out the hard way. After cyclone Marcia our backyard was flooded and our unground pool became dislodged and warped. The pool is not repairable and it has to be removed and another placed in. $35,000 dollars damage! They sent one assessor after the other the first three told me verbally there is no way they cannot cover this but after five months of constant phone calls and being placed on hold for up to 49mins when trying to speak to a claims manager it became obvious they were trying to weasel their way out of the claim. They then sent another assessor out (4 in total) who said it "May not have been installed correctly". Despite the fact that the pool was in five years before we bought the house and it was clear that the flood resulting from the cuclone caused the damage they denied the claim. I am currently taking them to the ombudsman then to court. Stay away from Suncorp!
