Cheaper for a reason!! Do not go near Asteron
I was provided with incorrect and misleading information by an Asteron underwriter during underwriting for an additional disclosure of an injury (submitted via signed declaration when my policy went into force) . Asteron should never have put policy in force and taken premiums on the policy until the additional disclosure had been assessed but they did!!!
It took Asteron 7 months to finalise underwriting on the additional disclosure and during this time they continued to take insurance premiums from my bank account. Prior to finalising additional disclosure, I ended up resigning from my job to start a business but the Asteron underwriter I spoke to when I resigned confirmed that my policy would definitely still be an "Agreed Value" Income Policy as I was employed when application was approved. He confirmed this would be the case even if I ended up with a new exclusion because of additional disclosure.
When Asteron finally provided me with amended terms, 7 months after my policy went into force they said that they would downgrade policy to an "indemnity" policy as I was no longer an employee. Angry Face.....I don't want an indemnity policy (I already have one within my super fund which thankfully I hadn't cancelled yet) and I'm now cancelling my Asteron policy and trying to have premiums returned to me. I have made a formal complaint to Asteron and await a response.
