Great price but not great when claiming!

am looking to change my Home insurance as soon as it is up for renewal. A pipe burst in our home needing us to make a claim (we have been with this company for 12 years never making a claim).
Claim made Friday finally had someone call to book in an assessor on Tuesday only to be told it will be another 12 days before they can come out to do an initial; assessment; asked how long until repairs made: unknown.
When asked if I was able to use my own repairers was told sure but we do not pay retail so you will be out of pocket.
Have had two friends use RACV and they were given a lump sum to pay their preferred repairers and the money was enough to cover!
