Stay Away

ANZ insurance is really QBE insurance with some extra benefits promised in the pds.

They seem to be good for simple things but if you are unlucky enough to have something complex go wrong you won't want to be with this insurance company.

The 'water damage' part of the policy actually covers you for them to send out a plumber to detect leaks but don't be fooled.

They sent a plumber to find a leak that couldn't find the leak.

When my own plumber found the leak that had been dumping water in the ground. They sent someone to assess the early signs of rising damp who didn't even use a moisture meter and told me there was nothing to worry about.

When rising damp spread they first acknowledged their mistake and waterproofed the house but then sent a loss assessor who tried to claim that damage to the floors was pre-existing.

The house then started moving when heavy stormwater started getting into the channels made by the leaking pipe...

It's all still ongoing and I'm ending up having to have my own experts prove everything anyway - 4 months and a lot of damage after they told me there was nothing to worry about.

Don't go with these guys. You are better off with an insurance company that tells you from the outset that you need to get your own assessments. Then you can choose your own experts and get the right information from the start.
