WARNING: Do not waste your time or money!
If this is how difficult it is to cancel and obtain a refund for 2 policies that never started, I am sooooo thankful I never have to go through the claims process with this pitiful company ...
I recently made the terrible mistake of taking out both a motor vehicle, and home and contents policy with Coles Insurance.
I took out both policies at 3pm, within an hour I called to cancel as my previous insurer (who has a superior product) was able to price match Coles' premiums. I was informed as the policies were only purchased an hour ago, they had not yet appeared on the system and I would need to wait another hour and call back to cancel.
I waited an hour, called back and was advised I would have to call back the following day to cancel as they were still not available on the system, but NO FUNDS would be deducted for either policy if I cancelled the following day.
I called back the next day and cancelled both policies.
2 days later I discovered the funds for both policies HAD been deducted from my account. I called back and was advised a full refund for BOTH policies would be in my account within 2 to 3 business days. I waited a week and the refund for 1 policy came back but not the other.
Called again to chase the refund for the other policy and was advised it had not been raised despite having given the account details for this to happen at the same time as the other policy whose refund I did receive. Now I have a further 2 to 3 business days for this refund to come back.
Save yourself the hassle (and money) and entrust the protection of your most valuable possessions to a reputable insurer!
