BD wanted to up the premium by $20 p/m stating "moving interstate can attract additional fees" but couldn't identify what those fees may be specifically.
Prior to calling I had been doing my research with on-line quotes, BD on-line quote (the third I had done with them in as many days, returning the same price) $474 vs 630+ over phone. I queried this and was put on hold for 30mins as the rep checked out the quote number i had vs what she had just quoted me. After a little more info was passed I was put on hold again f ro 20mins.
When she returned to the phone she said "Sorry we can't match that the computers are glitching and the program reports designated drivers as Mr & Mr rather than Mr & Mrs therefore the underwriters wont process the policy".
I explained that I had both my current policy and the on-line quote active on the screen in front of me and that they both read as Mr & Mrs, she apologised and said she and her manager couldn't understand the problem but it would be easily rectified by doing another on-line quote which would enable them to give me the $474 price, I should close all active sessions and start again (At this point I smell a rat, call me paranoid) then call them back when i had the new quote number. I insisted that she stay on the line whilst I did a new quote.
Lo and behold the new quote comes in at exactly the number she quoted me, I voiced my concerns as to the legitimacy of these events and again she apologised and said she couldn't understand it her self as she had the 474 quote on the screen in front of her.
Im on hold for another 20mins while she "investigates" and comes back with im sorry but we cant do anything about this its now locked into the system (you know the one that was glitching a few minutes before) but ive talked to my manager and well try to discount your policy as much as possible. On hold for another 20mins and the cost is now closer to 550.
Call me paranoid but......
The rep was always professional and seemingly helpful but these events have me now looking for a new insurer.
