Had to wait 6 months to get money back!

Made a claim and had to wait for 6 months before I got my money back. The money they paid was couple of thousand less than what I claimed. No explaination was given on why it was less and on top of that, I had to pay an excess of $500. I could afford the few thousand dollars out of pocket, just felt cheated and to contest it would take up more time and effort than it is worth. I will be changing insurers once my policy is expired.
