Be aware of misused of your credit card details by Woolworth’s insurance
When my insurance was about to expire, I decided to move to another insurance company. So I didn't renew my insurance with Woolworth insurance and insured my car with another insurer before due date.
When I received my credit card bank statement I saw Woolworth’s insurance charged my credit card for another year without my consent. I thought maybe it is happened by mistake.
I tried several times to contact Woolworth’s customer care line and each time waited for a long time, but one day after lots of persistence and efforts I was lucky to talk to one of the customer assistant on the phone.
She told me because two weeks cooling off period for an insurance that I never bought , is passed so she can’t give me any refund but she can cancel my insurance. Therefore, I wouldn’t charge for other months!!!
I asked her to put me through her manager. Her manager was very rude to me, even when I asked her for her full name; she just gave me her first name (I am not sure if it was her real name).
To make the story short, she referred me to the page 35 or 36 of the terms and condition booklet (fine print that only solicitors may read hundred pages of terms and condition for each product) and said they have the right to renew my insurance even if I didn’t ask for it!!!
I told her, but you are not authorised by me to charge my credit card and it is a misuse of my credit card details.
She passed me to Hollard insurance internal dispute resolution committee. I called them and left a message, but after 2 weeks still waiting for someone to get back to me.
I may saved a few bucks to buy insurance from Woolworths, but it didn’t worth hours of my time over few days and cost of phone and stress.
Not only I never do business with Woolworths insurance, but also share my experience with my friend to don’t trap in my frustrating situation.
