Annual travel insurance policies will often cover you internationally and domestically, for business or leisure travel, and the more you travel, the more you save.
If you're planning a few trips in the coming year, you can use our annual travel insurance comparison to compare several providers and find the best policy that's suitable for your holiday and budget. The levels of cover and maximum trip length will vary between companies, so make sure you read through the Product Disclosure Statement of your chosen company to make sure that the policy suits you.
The best thing about purchasing an annual multi-trip policy is that once you buy it you have a whole year ahead of you to travel without having to think about insurance. Planning a holiday can get pretty stressful, so these policies allow you to spend more time relaxing and less time organising.
Annual policies will often include comprehensive benefits, such as medical cover, cancellation cover, luggage, cash, travel delay, etc, and each of these benefits will usually apply per trip. Dependent children can often be covered for free when they are travelling with a parent or grandparent, and usually if there is a couple on the policy, they can travel separately as well as together.
Did you know? Many people don't think about getting domestic insurance for short trips and weekends away, however with an annual multi-trip policy, this is just an added benefit that you don't need to think about. You will often be covered for things like luggage, cancellation and rental car excess fees while travelling domestically with a multi-trip policy.
Like all insurance policies, not everything is covered. The main thing to be aware of when considering an annual policy is that the maximum trip length will vary between insurance providers; and this can often not be extended if you change your plans. These limits are generally between 30 to 90 days, and going even one day over the policy limit may void the policy, so make sure you know your exact travel dates before buying the policy.
Annual multi-trip travel insurance policies may also have lower age limits than standard single-trip policies, as a year of frequent travel is much riskier than a single trip. If you are an elderly traveller, make sure you are aware of any age limitations or additional loading fees, and that you have adequate cover for any pre-existing medical conditions.
"To my mind, the greatest reward and luxury of travel is to be able to experience everyday things as if for the first time, to be in a position in which almost nothing is so familiar it is taken for granted."– Bill Bryson
